"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). The LORD was speaking here to Sodom and Gomorrah. They were coming to offer sacrifice with blood on their hands and the world in their heart. They would hold special feasts and assemblies and burn their incense thinking this would give them access to God. After not hearing a thing from the LORD, Isaiah speaks for God and says that God wants them to come and let Him show them the error of their way. He will be just and righteous in His dealings with them, but they must come to Him. "Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil..." (Isaiah 1:16).Our day is no different then during the time of Isaiah. Today people come to God's house and expect to worship Him and their hands are tainted with guilt of their sins. Their heart is deceitfully wicked. God has not changed, He is still the same. He expected them to stop their sinning practices and let Him apply the blood that will cleanse them of all their sins. There is nothing that the blood of Jesus Christ cannot cleanse. The enemy would like to make us think that we cannot be forgiven. "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved" (Ephesians 2:4-5).
God wanting to reason with man? Yes, not in the sense that we think we can talk Him into accepting our sinful actions and allow us to continue in those sins. Oh no, God will forgive us, and give us the power to overcome the very temptation to want to sin. So what are we waiting for? God is ready to reason with you. He is ready to show His right judgment and execute His mercy upon you. You must first come to Him. What holds you back? Is it pride? Is it shame? Is it fear? No matter, simply come and He will give you "...the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, ... through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7) So, what are you waiting for?
