"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (1 Timothy 2:15)
"Summer forever!" That was the cry of students and teachers just a few weeks ago, but summer has come to an end. As they came through the doors I could hear the faint moans of having to start back to school. Those moans were from the teachers! Yes even teachers enjoy those times of break. Once the day got started though, you could sense an excitement in the air.
Study to show thyself approved unto God.
God has called us all to be students of the Word. At first you might moan and groan, but once you get into studying the Word of God it get's exciting! Too many christians do not know the Bible very well. They can tell you all about the new movies that have come out, the latest electronic gizmos at the store, even talk about all their favorite sports, giving you details of different players stats. But ask them about the Bible, and they look at you like you are speaking another language. The Bible, I believe is going to be one of those books God will open up on judgment day to show people what they have missed or misunderstood because they did not study it for themselves. They will take some preachers word for it but never take the time to check it out for themselves.
A workman that needeth not to be ashamed.
There are going to be a lot of ashamed people standing before the Lord one day. Ashamed that they did not take the time to read and study that BOOK. I want to challenge you to do something. I challenge you to spend the next thirty days spending thirty minutes a day in the Word. I challenge you to "Go Back to School", God's School, and get back to the BASICS of His TRUTH.
