Faith Involves Obedience

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen." Hebrews 11:1
THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS
The other night my wife and I and our daughter were all sitting in the den. I was reading a book, and they were watching a movie on TV. A commercial came on advertising cookies. My daughter said, "Momma, can we make some homemade cookies?" My wife said, "Sure, lets go see if we have the ingredients to make some chocolate chip cookies." In a little while I could smell the aroma of cookies baking in the oven. I could not see them yet, but could smell them baking in the oven. Why talk about homemade cookies when we're reading a scripture on faith? The reason is, in order to make the cookies correctly you must have the right ingredients. Just as it is with faith. You cannot have just any kind of faith, it has to be based on the Word of God.

FAITH INVOLVES ACTION
Then you have to mix them together. Faith without works is dead. My wife could have sat there and positive confessed the cookies baked, but not until she mixed the ingredients and finally bake them in the oven did we have the cookies. So it is with our faith. Faith involves action. Without added to our faith, it is just an allusion.

OBEY HIS WORD
When we pray according to God's Word, and we do what He has commanded us to do, we can then patiently wait, and spiritually smell the end results about to be accomplished. We would not have ate those freshly baked cookies, had my daughter not asked. James said, "Ye have not because ye ask not." Is there a need in your life that you have not yet asked God for? Remember, the key to our faith is OBEDIENCE to His Word! Be patient, if you have done your part, the answer is in God's oven, and it is almost ready!
