"And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the LORD of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap." Joshua 3:13
The children of Israel had spent forty years in the wilderness because of their rebellion and unbelief. The children are given the same opportunity that their parents were given. Here they stand at the edge of the water. Normally it is about 100 feet across, but it is flood season. The waters have risen to the point they are approximately 50 times the width. Their situation seemed impossible. But God specializes in the impossible. The Lord told Joshua He would be with him as He was with Moses.
He then instructed the Priests to carry the Ark to the edge of the water. As soon as the Priests foot would hit the water it would part, just like the Red Sea. Notice that if they had stopped at the Rivers edge and waited for the water to part, nothing would have happened. It was their step of faith that divided the waters. Today is no different. When you are facing a situation that seems inpossible, don't stand and wait for it to clear up and divide. Take that step of faith. Prove God at His Word. He delights when His children take that step of faith.
Are you willing to take that step? Are you willing to believe God for the impossible? He has not changed, you know. He is the same Yesterday, Today and Forever! Peter would never have been able to take that first step on the water if he stayed in the boat. Step out of the boat and into the water. Let God divide your Jordan so you can cross over!
