Praise the Lord I Saw the Light

Today I thought about a trip I took to visit Linville Caverns with a group of teenagers. Our guide led us into the cavern entrance. As we entered, we immediately noticed that it was cool, damp, and very dark. Our guide told us a story of three men that had hid in the caverns and their lantern went out. They panicked and could not find their way out.

Our guide then turned the lights out. The darkness seemed so thick, you could not even see your own hand in front of your face. He instructed us to follow the person in front of us by placing your hand on their shoulder. When he finally said "Stop!" He turned on the light and had us look down. We were standing on a metal grate over a crevice that has been said to be several hundred feet deep.

In life, you and I will sometimes seem to be in the dark about where we are going. All we can see is some light at the end of the tunnel. The difference between us, and others without Christ in their life, is the fact that we have our hand in the hand of the Master. He is our guide. When we are in the darkest point of our life, and we can feel the danger all around us, He will shine the Light and we will see that He has guided us right over the top of the danger and never left us every step of the way. "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men" John 1:4. I am so glad that one day I saw that light, and what a change took place in me.
